About this event

This annual event is an opportunity for leading trade unionists, socialists and global political figures to deliver a thought provoking lecture on the important issues of our times here in Ireland and across the globe.

We are delighted that this year, long standing trade union stalwart and friend of Áras UÍ Chonghaile, UNISON Regional Secretary, Patricia Mc Keown, will deliver the lecture. UNISON members in the healthcare sector have been to the fore in ongoing the battle against COVID-19. Patricia will reflect on the challenges facing the NHS in a post-COVID world and on the influence of James Connolly on her activism throughout her life. The 2020 annual James Connolly Lecture is dedicated to the memory of the late Denis Keatings, UNISON Regional Convenor and lifelong champion for working people who passed away earlier this year.
