About this event

Eoin O’Broin: Dysfunctional Housing System Dysfunctional is how Eoin O’Broin TD and Sinn Fein's housing spokesperson describes the housing system supported by Irish governments going back for three decades.

Homelessness and a shortage of houses was one of the main debating issues in the February election in the south.

Images of people living on the streets and children sleeping in hotel rooms helped drive the demand for change in the election which resulted in the spectacular growth of Sinn Féin and independents. In his recently published book, 'Home', Eoin O’Broin argued for a constitutional right to a home, large scale investment in a new model of public housing, real reform of the private rental sector and regulation of private finance, development and land.

Eoin Ó Broin: Córas Tithíochta Mífheidhmiúil Déanann Eoin Ó Broin TD agus urlabhraí tithíochta Shinn Fein cur síos ar an chóras tithíochta ar thacaigh rialtais na hÉireann leis le tríocha bliain anuas mar ‘mífheidhmiúil’. Bhí easpa dídine agus tithe ar cheann de na príomhcheisteanna ba mhó plé a rinneadh orthu sa toghchán ó dheas i mí Feabhra i mbliana.

Sa leabhar is déanaí atá foilsithe aige, d’áitigh Eoin Ó Broin don cheart reachtúil ar theach, d’infheistíocht mhórscála i samhail nua tithíochta poiblí, d’fhíorleasú earnáil na cíosa príobháidí agus do rialú maoinithe, forbartha agus talaimh phríobháidigh.
